Informace o albu
Skupina Rangers (Plavci) v rámci své dlouhodobé a úspěšné spolupráce s vydavatelstvím Panton připravila dvě exportní LP alba Country Our Way and Plavci On The Country Road.
Z obalu původního LP (1113 4258): Already back in 1967 the band Plavci won first prize at Porta, a major festival of Czechoslovak folk and country players, since then their song production has come to be an indelible feature of the specific variety of country music as it is played in Czechoslovakia.
With the passage of years the group have gradually focused on performing mostly their own numbers, which have replaced at an ever faster pace the international part of their repertory. While the outfit's first steps on the musical scene could be viewed in terms of a Czech reaction to the standard overseas bluegrass output, more recently Plavci have quite manifestly taken up the flag of modern country music involving the use of electronic instruments and stylistic means oscillating between country music proper and a sort of mainstream rock.
ln the early eighties, the band expanded their original five man lineup by another two players, a step that was instrumental in streamlining and enhancing the sound of both their recordings and live performances.
Virtually since the outset of their career Plavci have managed to produce an autonomous and original brand of country music which. far from being a carbon copy of foreign models, has nonetheless continued to stick to the established rules and attributes of the genre. Their songs are tuneful and pleasing to the ear, and are rendered with the utmost professionalism.
Of the many prizes and awards won by Plavci throughout their existence, one should mention at least two first prizes from the 1967 and 1969 editions of Porta, the title of CzechosIovakia's premier country music outfit of 1969, five golden shields of the Panton record company, for the most ancomplished and bestselling discs, a golden disc, also from Panton, for the sale of a million records, a stable ranking among the top five acts in the annual Golden Nightingale audience poll, etc:. Apart from home appearances, Plavci have made concert tours of the the USSR, GDH, Hungary, Poland, Belgium. Austria, Argentina, the Netherlands and Portugal. Since 1983 the band have had an exclusive recording contract with Supraphon.
The present album provides an insight into the group's repertory and style at its present stage. in the mid 1980s. Following after two earlier LPs, Country Our Way, and Plavci On The Country Road, this is the third export album of an outfit that has definitely a lot to offer. Here, attractive songs find a fitting vehicle in the characteristically crisp vocals and fine instrumental handling.
Anyhow, it's your turn now to listen . (Sleeve-note Miloš Skalka, 1987)
