Informace o albu
For several years Eva Pilarová is the Czechoslovak jazz singer No. 1. At twenty seven she is a mature artist with an unusual range of voice which allows he to alternate soprano scat withcontraalto passages; with a sense of modern interpretation and stylistic phrazing and with a rich scale of expressive shades of voice. Originally she studied at a business college in Brno and began to cultivate singing only after graduation. She attended Janáček Academy of Music and Dramatic
Arts where she studied operatic singing for one and a half year. However, jazz and dance music had such a power of attraction that she left he studies in order to be able to go on tours with a Brno ensemble.
In 1960 she won a competition organized by the Semafor Theatre in Prague; her collaboration with this stage contributed in a short space of time to her tremendous popularity. At present no significant concert of dance music or a telecast hardly takes place without Eva Pilarova's participation. She has already made many recordings for Supraphon Records, played in the film revue "If a Thousand Clarinets" and, at present, holds the principal rolesin the Prague Musical-Theatre.
She has already several times sung abroad and one of her biggest succes has been the winning of the Gold Medal in a competition of singers at Helsinki in 1963 where she has introduced the composition My Heart Sings. Eva Pilarová knows how to impart her own artistic character to any composition of her repertoire whether a jazz composition which calls for a brilliant mastery of voice, a melodical and unaging evergreen or a new popular dance song.
